DALLAS – Dallas College Mountain View men's soccer team beat Dallas College Cedar Valley 3-1 in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III South District semifinal Friday at Dallas College Richland.
The win sends the Lions (10-5-2) on to Saturday's 6 p.m. championship game against Richland (10-2-1). It will be a rematch of last year's district title game. Cedar Valley wrapped up its season at 2-13-0.
Mountain View scored two second half goals to break a tie at the intermission to send the Lions on.
Bryson Bolton scored in the 4th minute to give the Suns a 1-0 lead. Acalli Castaneda drew the assist. Four minutes later, Mountain View answered when Alexis Hernandez tied the game with a goal on a header off the corner kick from Josue Moreno.
It was Bolton's team-leading eighth goal of the season. Hernandez notched his first goal for the Lions.
Mountain View went ahead 2-1 in the second half Erick Garcia deposited a pass from Alexis Hernandez. It was Garcia's first goal of the year.
The Lions picked up an insurance goal when Ramon Guardado banged in his ninth goal of the season. He is tied for the team lead in goals.
Bennett Woodworth made 12 saves for the Suns. Juan Perez stopped four shots for the Lions in the first half. Bryan Umanzor had three saves in the second half.
It was Mountain View's third win over Cedar Valley this season.
