Jones Named DAC Player of Week
IRVING, Texas – Dallas College Mountain View's Jourdan Jones was named the Dallas Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
A 5-foot-2 freshman guard from Dallas, Jones averaged 21 points in three games, including a win over No. 12 Dallas College Richland in the opening week of league play. She scored a season-high 28 points on 8 of 13 shooting in the 71-54 win over Richland. She had 23 points on 8 of 12 shooting in a 78-70 loss at No. 5 Dallas College Cedar Valley, and finished the week up with 12 points on 5 of 13 shooting in a 77-65 home loss to National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Arkansas Cossatot.
Jones averaged 5.7 rebounds, and went 13 of 17 from the free throw line during the week. She had three triples in both of the first two conference games, and hit two more against Cossatot. She is averaging 20.1 points, while shooting 53.3 percent from the field, 36 percent from three-point range and 80 percent from the line, while grabbing four rebounds per game.
Mountain View (8-10, 1-1 DAC) hosts Nelson University Junior Varsity 5 p.m. Monday.
