DALLAS – Dallas College Mountain View men's soccer team won the Dallas Athletic Conference opener Wednesday night, beating Dallas College Cedar Valley 3-1.
The Lions (5-1-2, 1-0-0 DAC) matched its highest win total since 2021, with nine games remaining.
Nathaniel Velasquez scored the game's first goal in the 32nd minute on an unassisted play.
Cedar Valley, which is searching for its first win, tied the game five minutes into the second half.
Joely Garcia scored the gamewinning goal in the 64th minute on an assist from Juan Sanchez. Ramon Guardado added an insurance goal in the 76th minute to put it away for the Lions.
Bryan Umanzor played 70 minutes in goal for the Lions to earn the win. He stopped two shots. Juan Perez made one save in 20 minutes.
Mountain View will play at Southwestern Adventist University 3 p.m. Friday. The Lions meet No. 1 Dallas College Richland 6 p.m. Wednesday on the road.
