Mountain View Takes Down No. 10 Richland for 10th Win

DALLAS – Dallas College Mountain View's men's basketball team beat No. 10 nationally-ranked Dallas College Richland, 96-93, Saturday.

The win bumped the Lions' record to 10-13 overall, 3-5 in the Dallas Athletic Conference. Richland, which was the top National Junior College Athletic Association school in the league, fell into a tie for the top of the conference with Dallas College North Lake after slipping to 14-8 overall, 6-2 in the DAC.

It is Mountain View's first win over a ranked opponent this season, and it snapped a two-game skid.

Ashton Price had 24 points and two steals, while shooting 10 of 16 from the floor before fouling out. Louis Conner had 17 points, five assists, two steals and a block, while going 5 of 8 from the field and 7-for-8 from the free throw line.

The Lions trailed the Thunderducks, 49-42, at halftime. But Mountain View outscored Richland, 54-44, in the second half, pulling it out down the stretch.

Five players scored in double figures for the Lions, including Adrian Banks and Tracy White, who both finished with 12 points. Both of them hit five field goals. Jeremiah Talib had 10 points. Augustine Chibuko had 11 rebounds, four blocks and seven points. Noel Duplechain had nine points.

Mountain View shot 55.6 percent from the field and 84 percent from the free throw stripe.

The Lions will play at Dallas College Cedar Valley (7-13, 1-7) at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
