Lions Pick up Second Series Win, Doubling up Richland
DALLAS -- Dallas College Mountain View's baseball team beat Dallas College Richland 9-6 to win its second Dallas Athletic Conference series this season. It was the second straight 9-6 victory over the previously-ranked Thunderducks to open the second round of league play.
Asher Bates was 3 for 5, and Jessie Hernandez-Carranza went 2 for 3 with an RBI as Mountain View rapped at least 10 hits for the second straight game. It was also the second consecutive game Bates had three hits to extend his hitting streak to 10 games.
The Lions (15-21, 6-11 DAC) scored four runs in the top of the seventh to pull even at 6-6. They put it away with three runs in the ninth, and Cameron Cooper closed the door in the ninth with a spotless inning of relief to earn the save. Adam Spencer improved to 3-1.
Richland's Brandon Bell was 3 for 4 with a double and three RBI. Barrett Howard, Jacob Long and Max McLemore each had a hit and drove in a run apiece.
